Kitchen Lights
How do you change a room from walls that are lack luster to walls with a WOW factor. One of the most important things I tell people is look at colors in the right light. That seems like a practical thing to do. So they turn on their kitchen light and sit underneath a warm incandescent light to decide on colors. Wrong. The yellow warm glow that you like so much for the kitchen is changing the way you see the colors in front of you. OH, so you say that's what I am going to see when its on the walls. Unless you live in a cave that is not true.
Daylight
Daylight goes into every room directly or indirectly. Therefore the color
that looks good under your kitchen lights will look to Yellow or Green when on the walls. So the advice I give to everyone sitting down with me and looking over colors for their rooms is start with an area that has direct sunlight. Beware, overcast rainy days is the opposite of your warm lights and shed a gray blue cast over everything. Not a good day for picking colors. Now that you have the right lighting area other things to watch for and avoid. Coming up!
